baby jedidiah

well...i completed my to-do list since the last post! we had a healthy baby boy on april 11th at 8:43 pm.  Jedidiah John Hornacek weighed 8lbs 8oz and was 21 1/2 inches long. he is 3 weeks old today! time has flown and i feel like i haven't gotten much done besides staring at my new baby boy.

i haven't had to make one meal since he was born! i have an amazing family and awesome friends! the food just keeps coming!

here are some things i want to remember, and then we'll get to the pictures...

-when jedidiah arrived into the world, i said "we KNEW you were a boy!" however...he didn't look like what i pictured. i was expecting dark skin and dark hair.

-labor & delivery was much much better than what i thought it would be.

-dj literally does not hear one thing i say when he's looking at jedidiah.

-my mom took complete care of me and the house while she was here. if i have a girl someday, i hope i am able to do the same for her!

-we made our first trip to the grocery store yesterday.

-the dust buster handheld vacuum is our new best friend. i turn it on and it takes 3-5 seconds for jedi to calm down. it's a miracle.

-the baby loves jason mraz and colbie caillat

-he is a night owl. our regular bedtime is around 2 or 3am.

-bentley love love loves jed! he calls him baby diah.  we made our first trip to their house last week and bentley could hardly contain himself.

There are lots more things that I could say, but we'll get to the pictures!
 welcome to the world, jed!

 he's mine!!

am i old enough to have a baby?

i walked out of the bathroom and caught dj staring at him. it was the cutest thing ever!

almost ready to leave the hospital!

 my sparkly nails.

he does this face all the time!

i will never forget this moment! snuggling with jed.

sometimes i like to back up and look at how small he is.

 chillin'

britney came over and cleaned for me. it was such a blessing!

dj has been crashing on the couch almost every evening, and he likes to have the baby with him.

our first walk! he loves the moby wrap.

 dad's shades

nap time with the daycare kids

sometimes he looks like a rooster with his hair!

 first bath.

gotta go! the baby is waking up!

check. check. aaaannd....

So i painted my nails...hot pink.  I think that will look good in the hospital pictures. ;)

I completed my Master's Degree last night!!! I presented my two final projects right when I got to class, and then had to sit through 2 1/2 more hours of class. Oh well.

And now it's April 5th--my due date. So far I feel exactly the same as I have every other day. I didn't know that April 6th (or 7th or 8th or 9th...) even existed on this year's calendar because my mind kept stopping on the 5th.  I kept trying to tell myself that the baby will most likely come after the due date, but let's be honest....it's hard to not get your hopes up that it will come on the day that it's "supposed" to.  Today might come and go without a baby.  That will be weird.

But then we can root for baby to come on...
April 6th--Our 1,000th day of marriage!! (I haven't been counting.  I found out on theknot.com on our wedding website)
April 7th-Anna's Birthday
April 8th-Easter
April 9th-The day I would have to go back to school if he/she doesn't come before then
April 10th-The day we got engaged!

We have lots of good options.  We'll welcome you into the world no matter what day you decide to meet us, Baby H!

Don't tell me this baby isn't ready to come out!

Hmmm....my notifications on my phone seem to indicate that something exciting is supposed to happen today. I normally don't have 19 emails by the early afternoon! I think I've got some Facebook notifications to check on!

foot massage

My friend, Jana, from our couples Journey Group always gives her pregnant friends a foot massage on the week of their due date.  So she invited me over today for lunch and a foot massage/pedicure.  It was so relaxing!  While we were eating lunch, her son (who is almost 4 years old) and I had a funny conversation:

Duncan: Do you have a baby in there?!?
Me: Yes. What do you think it is? A boy or a girl?
Duncan: A baby.
Me: A boy or girl baby?
Duncan: A boy.
Me:  Maybe...
Duncan: Open it and find out!!!

P.S. my fingernails are still not painted.
