First time for everything

Yesterday, DJ and I had the best day date.  It was so fun!  Patti came over on her day off to watch Jed while we went shopping, tried out a new coffee shop, then went to the grocery store to pick up a few ingredients for DJ to make an apple pie.  Yep...you heard it right.  He made a pie from scratch, and it tasted really good!

Maybe I'll give him tonight's dinner recipe and wait on the couch until it's done!

I was always better at taking pictures with my real camera when Jed was a baby.  Then when he started moving around and climbing, I apparently must have started putting my camera out of reach.  So when something was cute and picture-worthy, I never had time to get my camera before the moment was over.  As sort of a New Year's Resolution, I decided to not put my camera in the case (at home) and always keep it readily available on top of the fridge.  I know it's safe up there and I can grab it really quickly.  Hopefully this means that I'll be getting some better pictures....or just pictures in general. Stay tuned! Tomorrow Jed and I are previewing a session of Kindermusik!  And I'm bringing my camera and taking pictures no matter how uncomfortable I feel!

valentine's day

DJ showed off his pizza-making skills on Tuesday.  (He used to work at Zio's about a decade ago.)

We cut each of these pepperonis with a knife.  It was time consuming, which is why we only made a few.  But next year we will be prepared.  I bought a mini heart cookie cutter for 50 cents on sale yesterday.  You better believe that every single pepperoni on that pizza will be heart-shaped!

I had grand plans to make heart-shaped brownies...which I did have a cookie cutter for.  But they came out in crumbles when we tried. (Sorry, no pictures of that.)  They still tasted good...and so did the ice cream!

2008

Four years ago on February 8th, a boy facebook messaged me and said, "Here's a random set of numbers that you might not wanna forget."  He left his number, and I pretended like I wasn't on facebook the second that he sent it to me.  I tried to play it cool and went to the gym and texted him about 2 hours later. He asked me to dinner. We went to Old Chicago and talked there for five hours!

Yesterday, on February 8th, that same boy messaged me, left me his number, and asked me if I wanted to go to Old Chicago.  So we did....and we even sat in the same booth!  But this time, we're married and have a little baby on the way!
