our annual planting party

every spring a few of the teachers from paddock get together and have a planting party.  each person brings flowers to share with everyone. we each bring our pots and fill them with all the beautiful flowers! i think my favorite part is the socializing before and after we plant...and the snacks. the snacks are always good. 


we all are, or were at one time, kindergarten and 1st grade teachers. we meet a few times a year to do something together.  sometimes we go to don & millie's after school.  we carve pumpkins together in october, and we usually make gingerbread houses at christmas. this one is always fun because it means that summer is almost here!

play date #2!  we celebrated 4 years of lane's life tonight! i remember sitting outside of my parents' house around the fire when vance called to tell us that he was a dad of a baby boy!

1 month

on may 11th, jed turned one month old! i can't believe it. it has definitely been the fastest month of my life! here a few facts about him.

Jedidiah...

weighs 12 pounds

still loves the vacuum

loves to be bounced really high on the exercise ball in dj's arms

wakes up to party around 10:30PM

still has a receding mohawk

is learning to like taking baths

loves to sleep most of the day away

play date (the first of many)

vance & celine and their kids are in town for the next several weeks! hooray! we had a little play date with them. jedidiah didn't do much playing. he sat contently in his car seat and watched slept while the others were slippin' and slidin'! hopefully this was the first play date of many this summer!

bentley LOVES diah!  we went over to their house yesterday and right when i set jed down in the car seat, bentley held out his arms to him, cocked his head and said, "hold you. hold you."

i got a minor injury the other day. in the middle of the night he was screaming, so out of desperation i decided to get the vacuum out of the closet.  with jed in my left hand and the vacuum in my right, i attempted to drag it downstairs where there was an outlet. it flipped and fell and hit me on the toe. we did eventually make it...bleeding toe and all.  he stopped crying 3 seconds after i turned it on. well worth it. our electricity bill might be higher this month because the vacuum is on several minutes of the day. but i will gladly pay a couple dollars to have a happy baby.

in the middle of the night last night, i finally got him to sleep. when i looked in the mirror (to see if he was sleeping), i couldn't believe how small he looked!
